Meet the Doctors

Jorge Guzman-Huesca, MD

Dr. Guzman-Huesca is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He completed his residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, recently voted one of the top 30 hospitals in the country by the U.S. News & World Report. He has continued to further his postgraduate education, and in 2006, he became a member of the Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Association.

Dr. Guzman-Huesca specializes in diagnosing and treating complex medical problems including diabetes, heart disease, COPD, hypertension, cholesterol and gastrointestinal diseases among others. He likes to guide his patients through the ever-changing field of preventive medicine with a strong emphasis on exercise and lifestyle modification. He tailors his medical care to the patient’s individual risk and circumstance, always adhering to evidence-based medicine.

American born, Dr. Guzman-Huesca grew up abroad which has provided him the opportunity to interact with people from various cultures. He is an avid tennis player and enjoys music, literature, traveling and learning. His two biggest passions are his family and The Football Club Barcelona.

Nelly M. Perez, MD

Dr. Perez is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She completed her residency at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, where she received several accolades, including being awarded the best medical resident of her generation, as well as receiving recognition for research projects during her residency. She has continued to keep up with changes in medicine, and yearly she goes to institutions like Harvard Medical School and Columbia University in New York City to further enhance her skills.

Dr. Perez, besides diagnosing and treating common and uncommon problems related to the cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine and digestive systems, has a special interest in women’s health issues including menopause, osteoporosis and breast cancer. She guides her patients through difficult times in their lives with extraordinary empathy and care. She is also a firm believer that empowerment through lifestyle modification has a very positive impact on the lives of people.

An avid runner, you can find Dr. Perez running the Naples Daily News Half Marathon every January. She also enjoys music, traveling and the company of family and friends.

Meet the Staff

Alma Mendoza, Concierge Practice Manager

12 years ago, Alma relocated from her native Orange County in Southern California to Southwest Florida where she has found a welcoming community, friends and love. Alma is the epitome of efficiency, extremely thoughtful, fast and hard working she redefines the word service. Multitasking, resourceful and relentless, she always find a way to overcome obstacles until she completes any task at hand.

The majority of her working history has been devoted to outpatient medical care, while in California and before coming to our office in 2004, she successfully managed a private medical office. Ever since she has implemented multiple changes in the office to make our operation seamless and more efficient, including making us one of the first paperless offices in the area through automation of Electronic Medical Records.

Alma is very interested in fashion and has completed several half marathons in Naples and also enjoys reading, traveling, gatherings with friends and biking adventures with her husband.

Christine Povia, Concierge Practice Liaison

Christine is one of the few Southwest Florida natives whom have witnessed and contributed to the magnificent growth of the area in the recent past. As a youngster she used to “travel” from Fort Myers to Naples to stay current with the fashion trends showcased in the high end shops of 5th Avenue and vicinity.

Christine combines the worldly appeal of an Italian father and the quintessential hospitality and warmth of a Southerner mother.

Following her goals and interests, she attended University of Florida and spent several years in Houston doing research in affiliation with University of Texas Medical School.

Upon returning home to Florida Christine endeavors have included a successful floral shop and a managerial position for a high profile building corporation.

A good listener and attentive to detail Christine brings all that business experience and personability to our practice for the benefit of our patients and for the enjoyment of all of us.
